poltergeist is a german word that basically means noisy spirit. poltergeist activity can include movement of physical objects, banging or rapping on walls and floors and can affect lights or lighting. I'm sure there are other signs of poltergeist activity. I've also read that this kind of activity seems to center or focus on a certain individual. If anyone else wants to add feel free. I hope this sort of cleared things up. billyd

Billy is right. Other indications of poltergeist activity include rocks being thrown at the house, bottle caps being undone (for example, on a bottle of detergent), or other kinetic activity.
In recent years studies have shown corrleations between poltergeist activity and pubescent girls. The prevalent theory these days is that a poltergeist is in fact not a ghost, but the telekinetic energy of the girl going through puberty.
